Help subscribers access their personalised status page

When your status page uses Audiences, a subscriber needs to identify themselves before they can see the components available to them. Opening the public page alone does not identify the visitor.

Early access: This guide is for page owners helping subscribers use an Audiences-enabled status page.

Open the page as a subscriber

  1. Open the status page and choose Manage Subscription.
  2. Enter the email address used for the subscription and follow the prompts.
  3. Check that inbox and follow the link in the email. If asked to confirm the subscription, complete that step.
  4. Continue to the status page in the browser where you opened the link.

Use the address that matches the intended Audience. A different work address or alias may not match the same rule. Keep personal access links private rather than forwarding them to other people.

If an address does not already have a subscription, the flow may ask you to create and confirm one. Entering an address does not by itself give it access to an Audience.

Access and notification preferences are different

An Audience determines which components a subscriber can see. Where component subscriptions are enabled, subscribers can also choose which components they want updates about.

Turning off notifications for a component does not remove access to it. Equally, choosing notification preferences cannot grant access to a component outside the subscriber's Audiences.

A subscriber cannot see an expected component

  • Check that they used the correct email address and completed the email steps.
  • Check the Audience rule and use Preview Subscribers to confirm that their subscriber record matches.
  • Check that the component is assigned to the intended Audience.
  • Check that they are using the browser where they followed their access link.

If the link has already been used, request a new one through Manage Subscription. See Managing your subscription for more help with access links.

The page looks wrong after an access change

During early access, an existing browser session may not reflect an Audience or component-access change immediately. Contact us if someone still sees content they should no longer have access to. Do not treat refreshing the page as proof that access has been removed everywhere.

When reporting a problem, include the page, affected component, approximate time and the steps taken. Do not send us the subscriber's access link.
