Configuring Twilio for SMS Notifications
Connect a Twilio Messaging Service to your Sorry™ status page to send SMS notifications. The senders and registration you need depend on the countries you send to.
Create a new Messaging Service in Twilio.
To get started, create a Twilio account if you need one, then sign in to the Twilio Console.
Go to Messaging > Services and click Create Messaging Service. Twilio documents the current setup flow in its Messaging Services guide.
You are now presented with the setup wizard, which will guide you through configuring the messaging service:
Step 1: Name your service and select 'Notify my users' on the use case dropdown.
Step 2: Add the senders you need to the sender pool. Choose phone numbers or alphanumeric senders that support your destination countries. If you use an alphanumeric sender, add a suitable phone number for destinations that do not support it. See Using Alphanumeric Sender IDs with Twilio.
Step 3: In the Integration step, configure how Twilio handles incoming messages. The Drop the message option discards incoming messages. Use this option if you do not need another application to receive replies through this Messaging Service.
Step 4: Complete the compliance and registration steps required for your senders and destination countries. For example, sending application SMS to US recipients using a US ten-digit long code number requires A2P 10DLC registration, including at low volumes. Other sender types and countries have their own requirements. Follow the requirements Twilio shows for your setup.
Finally, click on Complete Messaging Service Setup, and when prompted, click View my new Messaging Service.
Open your new Messaging Service and copy its Messaging Service SID. You will use it when connecting Sorry™ in the next section.
Configuring your Sorry™ status page
Head to the Sorry™ management UI and select the status page you want to configure with Twilio.
Click the cog icon to open the side menu and navigate to Message Distribution -> Publish to SMS.
Next, in the Twilio box, add your Account SID, Auth Token and Messaging Service ID from Twilio. To obtain your Account SID and auth token, head to the main Twilio console page, and the details are there under Account Info.
Finally, click Connect to Twilio to save the connection.
Migrating to the new Messaging Service configuration
Suppose your status page is already configured with Twilio and needs to be migrated to the messaging service. In that case, you must follow the above steps to create a new messaging service.
If the Messaging Service field shows Empty, click its pencil icon, paste the Messaging Service SID from Twilio, and click Save.
