Add components and sub-components
Role required: Page Configuration
This article explains how to add components and sub-components to your status page.
If you’re planning your status page structure for the first time, read Understanding components first.
Add a component
Use a component for a main part of your service, such as your website, API, app, dashboard, or support portal.
To add a component:
- Open the status page you want to manage from Manage Status Pages.
- Open the settings ⚙️ menu.
- Go to Components.
- Select Add component.
- Enter the component name.
- Enter an optional description.
- Choose whether Metrics should be on or off for this component.
- Select Save Component.
Your new component will now appear in your components list and can be selected when creating notices.
Add a sub-component
To add a sub-component:
- Open the status page you want to manage from Manage Status Pages.
- Open the settings ⚙️ menu.
- Go to Components.
- Find the component or sub-component you want to add to.
- Select Add Subcomponents next to it.
- Enter the component name.
- Enter an optional description.
- Choose whether Metrics should be on or off.
- Select Save Component.
Sub-components inherit the Metrics setting from the component they sit under. If Metrics are off higher up the structure, they will also be off for the sub-components underneath it.
The new sub-component will appear underneath the component or sub-component you selected.
