Understanding notices

Notices are updates you publish to your status page to keep customers informed about service issues, planned work, or general updates.

A notice should explain what is happening, which components are affected, what customers can expect, and when the next update will be shared.

Notice types

Sorry™ supports different types of notices depending on what you need to communicate.

Incident notices

Use an incident notice when something is not working as expected or customers may be experiencing disruption.

Maintenance notices

Use a maintenance notice when you are planning work that may affect your service.

General notices

Use a general notice when you need to share an update that is not an incident or maintenance, such as a product update, release note, service announcement, or change log.

Affected components

Notices should include affected components wherever possible.

This helps customers understand which parts of your service are affected and ensures subscribers receive updates for the components they care about.

Notice updates

You can update a notice as the situation changes.

For example, during an incident you might publish updates when you are investigating, when you have identified the cause, and when the issue has been resolved.

Publishing and notifications

When you publish a notice, it appears on your status page.

Depending on your notification settings, subscribers may also be notified through their chosen notification channels.
